Carnival Cruise Line has provided an update on its restart plan for the remaining ships in its fleet that remain out of service. The update comes as the Miami-based cruise line plans to have 17 ships back in service by the end of 2021 and 19 with two more being added by February 2022.

Carnival Cruise Line Restart Update

As expected, the cruise line released an update on their fleet as they push forward to resume operations. Carnival Cruise Line has 17 ships scheduled to be operating by year-end with the Carnival Sunshine resuming operations on January 13, followed by Carnival Liberty on February 11.

“Our restart plan continues to excel across all metrics, and we are looking forward to completing the restart of the fleet in the new year,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.  “We appreciate the support and patience of our guests, travel agents and port and destination partners who have been key to this successful restart.”

Sailing Protocols

When it comes to the ever-changing protocols for ship passengers, Carnival provided a positive outlook for families looking to cruise with young children. The cruise line is optimistic that vaccinations for kids aged 5-11 will be approved by the end of the year, which will allow more families to enjoy cruising once again.

“We are optimistic that vaccines will be approved for children between the ages of 5-11 before the end of the year and we look forward to welcoming more families back on board,” she added.  As it relates to ships operating in January and February, Carnival will continue to operate vaccinated cruises under its current protocols.

Australian Sailings Cancelled

With no word yet on when the cruise industry can resume operations in Australia, Carnival has canceled cruises of its two Australian-based ships. The Carnival Splendor cruises are canceled through February 7, 2022, and the Carnival Spirit cruises have been canceled through February 20, 2022. Until the cruise industry is given the green light to resume operations in Australia, further cancellations can be expected.
