Costa Firenze Joins Carnival Expanding at a dry dock for refurbishments in Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard in Italy

Carnival Cruise Line, a leader in leisure travel, proudly announced the official delivery of its newest ship, the Carnival Firenze. Costa Cruise Line, a sister cruise operator, celebrated the handover at Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard in Italy.

The momentous event marks a significant milestone in Carnival’s ongoing commitment to enhancing its fleet and offering unparalleled vacation experiences to its guests.

With Carnival Firenze joining the cruise line, Carnival now operates 27 cruise ships.

Firenze concluded its last sailing for Costa Cruises in late January before arriving at Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard. The vessel is undergoing a two-month renovation to prepare the cruise ship for Carnival passengers.

The vessel is receiving iconic venues like:

  • Guy’s Burger Joint
  • Limelight Lounge
  • Hero’s Tribute Bar

Costa Firence will also receive a new livery combining Carnival’s new hull design with Costa Cruise’s iconic funnel. The design is a nod to Firenze’s origin with Costa Cruises, with the Carnival theme cruise guests love.

Costa Firenze is the second Costa Cruises ship to join Carnival’s fleet following Carnival Venezia as part of the Carnival Fun Italian Style concept. The concept merges Carnival’s renowned venues, service, and signature experiences with a European vibe and atmosphere, offering a unique blend of the brand’s festive spirit and Europe’s sophisticated flair.

The Carnival Firenze, originally built for the Asian market as part of the Costa Group, has transformed to embody Carnival’s spirited and fun-filled brand. With a gross tonnage of 135,136 and a capacity to host 4,232 guests, the Vista-class ship is designed to cater to every traveler’s desire. The cruise ship features many dining options, entertainment venues, and recreational activities.

Christine Duffy, President of Carnival Cruise Line, expressed her excitement about the new addition: “The beauty of Florence, Italy is about to meet the FUN of Carnival Cruise Line! We are elated to welcome Carnival Firenze to the Carnival fleet, joining her sister Carnival Venezia to showcase ‘Carnival Fun Italian Style.”

The ship’s design draws inspiration from the beautiful city of Florence, Italy, reflecting its rich cultural heritage and architectural marvels. Guests aboard the Carnival Firenze can indulge in various culinary delights, from casual eateries to fine dining restaurants, each offering dishes crafted by renowned chefs.

Entertainment on the Carnival Firenze is set to redefine onboard amusement with Broadway-style shows, live music performances, and the latest in immersive technology, ensuring that there’s never a dull moment.

Carnival Firenze will welcome her first guests from Long Beach, California, on April 25, 2024.
