Princess Cruises announces 2022 cruise ship restart dates. The cruise line has announced that three more ships will restart operations in February, March, and April of 2022, bringing the total to 11 ships back in service. The move comes as the cruise line is gradually restarting operations across its fleet with added safety protocols in place.

Three More Ships Restart Operations

Starting February 13, Princess Cruises will begin welcoming passengers to three additional cruise ships.

  • Crown Princess will begin sailings from Los Angeles on February 13 taking passengers along the California Coast and Hawaii. The ship will join Majestic Princess and Grand Princess, which have already resumed sailing operations.
  • Island Princess will make its return to the Caribbean starting March 6 offering 14-day, 10-day and series of 7-day cruises from the port of Ft. Lauderdale.
  • Royal Princess will be returning to Vancouver and offer California Coast sailings beginning April 8, 2020.

With eight Princess ships currently sailing, the return of Crown Princess, Island Princess, and Royal Princess represents 79 percent of Princess’ ship capacity.

“It has been thrilling to have our guests on board enjoying real vacations in Alaska and on the west coast,” said Deanna Austin, Princess Cruises chief commercial officer. “By April of 2022 we will have 11 of our ships back at sea, with the support of government and port officials, creating vacation memories for our guests.”

Safety Protocals Are In Place

As part of their safe return to sailing, Princess cruises sailing through February 2022 are subject to additional safety measures that require passengers to be fully vaccinated. Sailing will be restricted to guests who have received their final dose of an approved COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days prior to the beginning of the cruise and present valid proof of vaccination. Crew vaccinations will be in accordance with CDC guidelines.

The additional safety protocols are similar to other major cruise lines such as Holland America and Carnival Cruise Line, which have extended protocols through February 2022.
