In a major shakeup to its onboard dining experience, Princess Cruises is rolling out significant changes across its entire fleet. The cruise line will now offer three distinct dining options in its main dining rooms: Traditional, Reservable, and Walk-in Anytime.

Under the new system, each ship will designate separate dining rooms for the three table service options. The changes are designed to enhance the guest experience, giving guests greater control and flexibility in how they dine on Princess Cruise ships.

The following dining options take place on voyages departing September 14, 2024.

  • Traditional Dining maintains the classic cruise experience with fixed seating times and the same tablemates and wait staff throughout the voyage.
  • Reservable allows guests to make reservations for their preferred dining time each day.
  • Walk-in Anytime allows you to dine as you please. Guests don’t need to make reservations and can eat at their convenience.

As an important note, Coral Princess and Island Princess combine Reservable and Walk-in Anytime dining in one main dining room due to limited space.

Princess Cruises first implemented the three dining choices on their newest ship, Sun Princess. The cruise line cites the popularity of the dining program as the reason for expanding the changes across Princess Cruises’ fleet.

“Our guests have been delighted with the dining flexibility aboard Sun Princess, and we’re pleased to extend the concept to all the other ships in our fleet,” said Sami Kohen, vice president of food and beverage at Princess Cruises. “Now whether guests prefer an early seating every evening, or change things up every night, or even change their mind, these flexible dining options ensure that their dining preference is effortlessly accommodated.”

The new dining changes take place on all Princess voyages departing on September 14, 2024.

Princess Cruises is canceling all main dining room reservations made for sailings departing on and after September 14, except for those on Sun Princess, which already follow the new system. Reservations for cruises departing through September 13, 2024, are unaffected.

Starting June 17, booked guests can select their preferred dining style through the Princess Cruises mobile app.

This change does not affect guests with a dedicated dining room on Princess ships. Reservations for specialty dining restaurants, suites, or reserve collection accommodations are unaffected.
