Before deciding if purchasing the drink package is worth it, it’s essential to understand the cost of Princess Cruises drinks.

When deciding whether or not to purchase the drink package, it is a good idea to calculate how much you would be spending if you bought the individual drinks rather than the package. Knowing the prices before you cruise can help you decide if purchasing a drink package makes financial sense. Sometimes, you’ll spend less money when you purchase drinks individually.

In the below chart, you’ll find the approximate prices if you were to pay full price for the drinks on the ship.

Category Price
Beer$6.75
Wine (by the Glass)$10.00
Mixed Drinks$9.00
Specialty Cocktails$10.00
Soda$2.50
Bottled Water (500 ml)$2.65
Specialty Coffees$3.50
Other Non-Alcoholic Drinks$5.00
Energy Drinks$4.50

The Premier Beverage Package is Princess Cruises’ only alcoholic drinks package.

The Premier package has a price of $59.99 per day plus an 18% service charge, added at checkout. Including the service charge, the total cost of the package is $70.79 per day.

On a 7-day cruise, you can expect to pay $495.53 per person for the entire cruise.

Princess Cruises Premier Beverage Package includes all wine by the glass, beer, spirits, and cocktails up to $12 per drink. Further, guests are limited to 15 alcoholic drinks per day.

If you purchase a drink that is more than $12, you simply pay the difference.

You can use the beverage package to purchase a wide range of non-alcoholic drinks, including bottled water (500 ml only), fresh juices, fountain sodas, specialty coffees and teas, Red Bull energy drinks, and milkshakes if they are available.

When dining at one of the onboard specialty restaurants, the drink package includes a one-liter still or sparkling water bottle.

Guests who purchase the Premier Beverage Package receive a 25% discount on purchases of bottled wine, one-liter bottles of water, bottled juices, and canned soda.

Depending on availability, package holders also receive a souvenir tumbler.

While the Premier Beverage Package includes nearly every onboard beverage, some exclusions are bottled spirits or bottles of wine, minibar or vending machine purchases, or items offered in the onboard shops.

Additionally, the Premier package cannot be combined with other promotions or special offers, including wine tastings, buckets of beer, Buy One Get One offer, Chef’s Table, or Specialty Dining cover charges.

Premier Coffee and Soda Package

Princess Cruises Premier Coffee and Soda Package is the best choice for pop and coffee lovers.

The Coffee and Soda Package has a price of $19.99 per person per day, plus an 18% gratuity added at checkout. With the service charge, the total cost of the beverage package is $23.59 per person per day.

On a 7-day cruise, you can expect to pay $165.13 per person for the entire length of the cruise.

For Australian itineraries, the package has a price of $29.99 AUD. This price is inclusive of the service charge.

With the Premier Coffee Soda Package, you’ll receive unlimited specialty and premium coffees and teas, hot chocolate, fountain sodas, fresh juices, mocktails, smoothies, Redbull, milkshakes (when available), and Frappes at Coffee & Cones. The package also includes access to the Coke Freestyle machines if they are available on the cruise ship.

With so much included, this package is the ultimate non-alcoholic drinks package.

However, unlike most cruise lines’ non-alcoholic beverage packages, this one doesn’t include bottled water.

Package holders also receive a 25% discount on bottles of water, bottled juices, and canned soda.

Like the Premier Beverage Package, the Coffee and Soda package doesn’t include minibar purchases, vending machine items, or other bottled and canned items.

Grounds Coffee Package

Princess Cruises new Grounds Coffee Package

The Grounds Coffee Package is a coffee lover’s dream.

This package allows guests to pre-purchase a specified number of specialty coffees, complimentary brewed coffee, and hot chocolate at a reduced rate.

You can redeem the specialty coffees in locations where espresso is available.

The number of specialty coffees included with the package varies depending on the length of the cruise. Therefore the price of the package also varies based on your itinerary.

Unlike many drink packages, you can share the pre-purchased specialty coffees. However, you cannot share unlimited brewed coffee, hot chocolate, and tea.

The new Grounds Coffee Package replaces the old premium coffee punch card system.

There are some important things to keep in mind when purchasing the coffee package:

  • The package can only be used on the intended voyage.
  • If you don’t use all pre-purchased coffee credits, the remainder will not be credited.
  • The package, and any remaining beverages, are not transferrable or refundable.
  • The package does not include room service, mini bar items, or canned coffee.
  • The package can only be used on the intended voyage.
  • If you don’t use all pre-purchased coffee credits, the remainder will not be credited.
  • The package, and any remaining beverages, are not transferrable or refundable.
  • The package does not include room service, mini bar items, or canned coffee.

Princess Cruises Beverage Package Rules

Before purchasing one of the Princess Cruises drinks packages, there are a few basic details you need to know.

Like most cruise lines, Princess Cruises beverage packages are priced quoted at prices per person per day. Further, the drink package must be purchased for the entire cruise. This means you can’t purchase the package on individual days.

At checkout, the cruise line adds an 18% gratuity to your purchase. However, the service charge is waived on Australian sailings.

The drink packages are not available for purchase on itineraries of two nights or fewer (or Australian voyages of seven nights or less.)

Guests may use the beverage packages at the cruise lines’ private islands, onboard restaurants, and venues that offer beverage service, including the theatre.

While we recommend purchasing the package in advance, you can buy a drink package onboard the ship, but only on the day, you embark on the cruise ship.

Before embarkation day, you can purchase any Princess Cruise drink packages up to four days before you set sail. You can purchase the package from the Cruise Personalizer, telephone, or your travel agent.

The beverage package is non-refundable and non-transferable within three days of the sail date or if you purchase the beverage package on the cruise ship.

As you might expect, Princess Cruises does not allow passengers to share the drink package. In other words, you won’t be able to use the drink package to purchase beverages for other passengers. Further, there is a daily limit of 15 alcoholic drinks per day, and you’ll only be able to order one drink at a time.

However, unlike most cruise lines, not all passengers sharing a stateroom need to purchase the drink package. So, if only one guest wants to buy a drink package, the other passengers won’t need to buy one.

An awesome advantage if you ask us!

Final Thoughts: Is the Princess Cruises Drink Package Worth It?

Determining if the drink package is worth the price depends on your drinking habits.

What drinks will you consume? How many drinks do you purchase every day? Will you be getting off the ship at the ports of call?

Be sure to consider these questions before purchasing any of the Princess Cruises Drinks Packages.

As a final consideration, you can take advantage of the Princess Cruises’ Princess Plus fare, which includes the Premier Beverage Package, unlimited WiFi for one device, and the daily gratuities. Finding the Princess Plus fare for less than $50 per day is not unheard of. You’ll get a significant discount on the beverage package at that price, plus Princess Cruises MedallionNet WiFi package.

In our opinion, if you decide to purchase a Princess Cruises drinks package, the Princess Plus fare is a far superior deal.
