Royal Caribbean International is one of the world’s most popular cruise lines, with a fleet comprising some of the world’s largest and most innovative cruise ships.

The cruise line rewards loyal passengers with a point-based membership system known as the Crown and Anchor Society.

After your first Royal Caribbean cruise, you’re automatically enrolled in the program. You’ll earn points for each night’s stay on one of their cruise ships that unlock rewards as you climb the status tiers. For each night you spend on board, you’ll earn cruise points determining your status level.

We’ll cover everything you need to know about the Crown and Anchor Society so you can make the most of your vacation on one of Royal Caribbean’s cruise ships.

Crown and Anchor Society Basics

Royal Caribbean’s Crown and Anchor Society is a loyalty program that rewards cruisers with perks and benefits that enhance the cruising experience. The program is complimentary, and passengers are automatically enrolled after completing their first cruise with Royal Caribbean.

The more cruises you take, the more points you earn, leading to higher status levels within the Crown & Anchor Society. These status levels range from Gold to Pinnacle Club, with each level offering its unique set of benefits.

How to Earn Points in Royal Caribbean’s Crown and Anchor Society

Your membership level is based on a points system, where you earn points for every cruise you take. You’ll earn:

  • 1 cruise point: For each night’s stay in an interior, oceanview, or balcony stateroom.
  • 2 cruise points: For each night spent in a suite.

If you want to accumulate points quickly, Royal Caribbean will occasionally run a promotion where you earn double points for booking.

It is important to remember that you only earn these points after the completion of the cruise. Therefore, if you reach enough points to bump up to the next level mid-way through a cruise, the change won’t take effect until your next cruise.

Further, you’ll only earn points for the cabin category you pay for. Therefore, you won’t earn extra points if you stay in a suite when you upgrade through Royal Caribbean’s Royal Up program.

When traveling with Royal Caribbean, your family members can enjoy the same status level as you, even if they haven’t earned it themselves. This means they’ll experience the same perks and benefits that you do. However, this doesn’t change their own points total; they simply share in your tier’s privileges for that trip.

This feature is especially beneficial for children who are part of the family. It allows them to enjoy the same level of benefits as their higher-tiered parent or guardian. But remember, once they turn 18, they’ll no longer automatically share in the higher tier status and will need to build their own points.

It’s also important to note that the Pinnacle Club status, which is achieved after accumulating 700 or more points, is exempt from this family-sharing feature. Family members cannot attain Pinnacle Club status through shared benefits; they must earn it through their own accumulated points.

How to Keep Track of Your Points

Once you are a part of the Crown and Anchor Society, you can keep track of your points in your online Royal Caribbean Account

You can also view upcoming cruises and past voyages in your Royal Caribbean Account. You can see how many points you earned on your past sailings. If you notice any discrepancies, you can always contact their support team to resolve them.

Being a Crown and Anchor Society member has some great benefits broken down into three groups: Onboard Benefits, Benefits and Savings on Land, and Youth Benefits.

The benefits you receive depend on your membership tier but range from onboard discounts to private events, exclusive onboard bars and lounges, and discounts on booking.

The more points you earn, the better the rewards.

Matching Status with Celebrity Cruises Captain’s Club

Celebrity Eclipse embarking on a summer cruise from Southampton, UKPin

Royal Caribbean’s Crown and Anchor Society members can enjoy a status match with Celebrity Cruises’ Captain’s Club, thanks to the reciprocity between these two cruise lines. The reciprocity agreement means that members of one loyalty program can enjoy similar benefits when they sail with the other line, as both cruise lines are owned by Royal Caribbean Group.

Although crossover benefits will equal a matching tier status, you’ll only accumulate points for the cruise line you sail with.

Credits earned on one cruise line are incompatible with those earned on another brand.

You can use only points obtained through sailing on Royal Caribbean ships to achieve the Pinnacle Club membership tier level. Similarly, there are no crossover points to Celebrity Cruises’ Captain’s Club Elite Plus or Zenith levels. You’ll need to accumulate points sailing with the respective cruise line to reach these coveted tiers.

Royal Caribbean program members also receive exclusive benefits and perks at partner companies, including Hertz and MGM Resorts International’s M life rewards.

MGM Resorts International

Crown and Anchor Society FAQs

How do I find my Crown and Anchor number?

When you log in to Royal Caribbean, you can find your Crown and Anchor number at the top right of the screen. Your number will also be printed on your sea pass card.

If you’re unable to access your account or don’t have one, you can contact Royal Caribbean’s support for additional help.

What are the membership levels of Royal Caribbean?

There are six membership levels in Royal Caribbean’s Crown and Anchor Society:
– Gold: 3-29 cruise points
– Platinum: 30-54 cruise points
– Emerald: 55-79 cruise points

– Diamond Plus: 175-699 cruise points

Can I Share My Perks With My Spouse?

Yes, spouses and children can be added as part of your family group. Members in a group will receive the same status as the highest tiered family member, with the exception of Pinnacle status.

All other family members will receive Diamond Plus status and perks instead of Pinnacle Club.

Final Thoughts

Royal Caribbean is one of the largest and most popular cruise lines. The Royal Caribbean fleet consists of some of the largest cruise ships in the world that continue to push the boundaries of innovation.

The Crown and Anchor Society offers loyal passengers access to exclusive perks and benefits. In our opinion, Royal Caribbean’s loyalty program is one of the best in the industry.

The program offers many valuable perks, even at the lower tiers.

Further, reaching status levels isn’t impossible. If you’re wondering who cruises enough to be a Diamond Plus or Pinnacle Club member, I can tell you I’ve seen plenty of cruisers walking around the ships with their lapel pins on.

  1. We are going to be one point away from diamond when going on a big 7-day cruise. Have you heard of any ways to earn 1 extra point outside of a sailing day on a ship? I know this probably isn’t possible but was curious if anyone ever tried to get Royal to gift them a point or even purchase a point.

    • Unfortunately, Royal Caribbean doesn’t offer any opportunities to earn points outside of sailing. You could always try calling the cruise line and asking them to provide you with the diamond perks on your cruise since you are so close to the next status level. It’s unlikely that Royal Caribbean will provide an exception, but it doesn’t hurt to try. If you do get an exemption, let us know, and we’ll pass the tip on to our readers.

  2. Hi! I have a question, my husband is already a Crown & Anchor Society member but I am not. I was wondering, if I become a member, are we both able to receive points for the same cruise and same room that we will be staying on? Or can only one passenger get points?
